What are the qualifications of the person who will do the work? The person conducting your energy or gas certificate assessment or boiler servicing/repair will be appropriately qualified and insured and accredited by the relevant regulatory bodies: The Gas Safe Register for gas work and Elmhurst Energy Systems for the EPCs. Do feel free to ask to see this accreditation before work begins. If you wish, you can check our Gas Safe accreditation right now by going to the Gas Safe site and entering our number - 506702 - in the 'Check a Gas Business' form at the top right. |
When will someone be able to come? That will be negotiated with you within our normal working hours of 9.00 to 5.00 Monday to Friday and depends on current workload and staff availability. |
Why do I need an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)?If you are a landlord you are now required by law to provide new tenants with a copy of an EPC. Fortunately, each certificate lasts for 10 years. If you are a private house owner you have to provide a copy of an EPC when you sell your house. It's not a bad idea to have one done anyway The energy assessment is a survey of a property that creates an energy rating similar to one found on fridges and washing machines and other electrical appliances. An assessment also produces a list of recommended energy improvements. The assessor collects data on the dimensions, construction, heating and hot water provision of the property and enters it into an approved software programme. The assessment rates the property from A–G and indicates its potential rating if all the suggested improvements are carried out. Only accredited and suitably qualified domestic energy assessors (and existing home inspectors) are allowed to carry out energy assessments. |
